Can bioinformatics help in your research?
Michelle Stephens, MS, will lead a monthly Bioinformatics User Group for the Center for Precision Medicine. The User Group aims to build a relaxed, supportive space where folks working in or curious about bioinformatics can connect, learn together, exchange tips, and talk through challenges together.
Michelle spent several years as a wet-lab scientist in the Murtaza lab before shifting to computational research. Currently a Research Data Scientist in the SMPH Informatics and Information Technology (IIT) Data Science team, she serves as a liaison to the Platform R team, providing researcher perspectives to help align IIT’s engineering efforts with the Center’s scientific goals.
“Platform R is SMPH’s new high-performance computing cluster for human genomics research,” Dr. Murtaza shared in his February 12th email to faculty and affiliates. “The User Group meeting is a great opportunity to get a head start into using Platform R and get help with onboarding, as well as to share feedback so we can help improve the utility of his shared computing resource.”
You can learn more about Platform R in the SMPH Knowledge Base.
The next meeting will be April 1st, 12 pm – 1 pm in Room 2798. Contact seminar@precisionmedicine.wisc.edu with any questions.
