On September 25, 2026, resident faculty member Irene Ong, PhD, joined several leading oncologists, scientists and researchers as a guest panelist at the Cap Times Idea Fest.
Presented by the UW-Health Carbone Cancer Center (UWHCCC), Ong participated in the festival’s “AI in Cancer Research and Care: Friend or Foe?” discussion panel, where she shared her perspective on the evolving role of artificial intelligence in cancer care and research. Additional panelists joining Ong included in Christian Capitini, MD, UWHCCC director; Christoph Lee, MD, MS, MBA, professor in the Department of Radiology; and Pallavi Tiwari, PhD, associate professor in the Departments of Radiology and Biomedical Engineering.
More than 400 people sat in on their talk, which covered ways in which machine learning is transforming patient outcomes, accelerating drug discovery and modifying clinical workflows.
Congratulations, Dr. Ong!
