Center for Precision Medicine Name Change

Formerly known as the Center for Human Genomics and Precision Medicine, our Center has adopted a new name to reflect the evolving landscape of precision health. While genomics remains central to our mission, the scope of precision medicine has expanded to include a broader range of tools and data sources that enhance our ability to anticipate, diagnose, and manage disease across the lifespan.

Why Did We Change Our Name?

The new name, Center for Precision Medicine, reflects our commitment to:

  • Integrating high-throughput molecular analyses beyond DNA, such as transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics
  • Leveraging robust data from electronic health records, environmental exposures, lifestyle factors, and imaging
  • Focusing on translational research that bridges discovery and clinical application
  • Complementing the work of other UW centers, including the Center for Genomic Science Innovation and the UW Biotechnology Center
